I am running low on my usual Kiehl's body lotion, and so to cut costs I thought I'd try pure butters and oils on my skin rather than spend another $20 on Kiehl's. I admit to being a skin care junkie and have switched completely over to pure and natural products now. I've used shea butter, cocoa butter, argan oil and tamanu oil on my body with good results, though the shea and cocoa don't absorb all the way into my skin, leaving an oily coating on my skin for most of the day. Since I had never tried avocado butter, I thought I'd give it a shot, and I am glad I did. When I get out of the shower, while skin is still wet, I smooth on argan and tamanu oils, then this avocado butter over that. Within an hour after applying, it is completely absorbed and interacts beautifully with the argan and tamanu, leaving my skin superbly moisturized without a greasy coating. And these effects last between my every-other-day showers. I love it!
In the product description, it states that this is good for sensitive skin (which I have) and is a natural sunscreen. It's early to tell yet, but after a week's use and being outside every day, I have not been burned though I am turning light tan (I have medium-fair skin). I would say it is very light sunscreen so if you have fair skin I would not depend entirely on this for sunscreen. There is a subtle buttery smell, barely detectable, that disappears after you use it.
I also tried it as a hair mask. It has been awhile since my last haircut and my hair was feeling pretty crispy, especially on the ends. I put some of this mixed with argan oil on my DRY hair, then wrapped it all up in a hot, damp towel for an hour and shampooed it out. You will need to wash and rinse 2-3 times to make sure all the oil is washed out, and I would recommend using a good natural shampoo. I like Kiehl's argan shampoo, Syrian Olive soap cake or LUSH Reincarnate shampoo cake, then my regular LUSH conditioner (but just a lttle) after that. I had no idea how well my little concoction would work! My hair is smooth as silk, much more manageable and looks and feels great. You'll need to adjust the amount you use to the type of hair you have: mine is long and fine and still has color in it from about 8 months ago. I used about 1 1/2 tbsp. of avocado butter and about 2 tsp. of argan oil. If you have thicker or coarse hair you will want to use more.
I have not tried any other "brands" of avocado butter. There are only 2 or 3 even available on amazon. The others I looked at were mixed with beeswax and/or other ingredients. While Dr. Adorable makes no mention whether or not is 100%, I believe it is 100% avocado butter which is what I want. My only beef is with the bottle it comes in: a regular body lotion bottle. It's difficult to get the butter out of there. I've submerged the bottle in hot water for several minutes which does loosen it up, but it would be much more convenient if it came in a tub!
So, if you want great skin & hair but don't want to pay a great price, get yourself some of this and some argan oil. Believe me, it actually works much better than drugstore products and is equal to the high-end stuff.

Love this product! Very light on the skin. In the picture I just whipped it with some coconut oil and some beeswax pellets (also bought from this company) very buttery (added peppermint oil as a mosquito repellent since I live in the south)
